My Devo Time

I have been thinking about my personal devotion time lately. Typically, my devotion times can end up turning into hard study times for upcoming lessons. I have not done well trying to do set book studies either. Last year I read about another way to do devotional at Chris Freelands blog. His basic idea is that you spend a month working through a book of the Bible. After a month you move on to another book and alternate between old and new testament. I have been thinking about this for a while. After speaking to some of the other Hard Rock leaders, it seems that you all struggle with some of the same things. I plan to try this type of a plan starting February 1st, and you are welcome to work through the books with me. It would be nice to share this with you as my fellow leaders at OBC. Here are the ground rules for the devotional:

1. Start a book on the first day of the month and end it on the last day of the month.

2. We will rotate between old and new testament.

3. No commentaries until the last 2 days of the month. Lets work through scripture and see what the Lord has in mind for us before we learn from others. The last 2 days of the month we can crack the commentaries if we want further clarification on something.

4. I will try to share some thoughts that I have through the month. I welcome any thoughts you have.

So what will be the first book? Drum roll please, dadadadadadadadadaddadadada-----

1 Thessalonians

1 Thessalonians is an excellent choice. I hope you'll post what you find as you go... I need to brush up.

I'm thankful to have been an encouragement in this - hope it helps you as much as it helped me.
